It was the evening of the team Christmas Part in Birmingham, not sure why it was in Birmingham, probably because we got cheap tickets to get into the nightclub !
However, I was running late as ever and to top it all off - some berk in an old banger drives into me on the 5-ways roundabout in central Birmingham. This really started my evening off well.
It was also going to be the first 'office social' event since Pippa & I had started our relationship. So it had all the hallmarks of being totally uneventful or full of fireworks.
As it turned out, it was fairly uneventful. The team met in the bar for a few drinks, then we all whent off to our respective rooms to get changed into our 'christmas party glad-rags', we then planned to meet in Pippa's bedroom for the ceremonial 'secret santa' giving & receiving of mystery presents valued at £5 or less. This was as much fun as can be extracted from such an event & soon we were on our to the restaurant. Although I thought I was being very discreet, my secret smiles & winks toward Pippa were not going un-noticed although no-one had the courage of conviction to say anything, well at least not until a good few beers later.
After the meal we all planned to go onto a club, however, heavily pregnant Jenny was start to flag, her baby-tummy-bump was making her back & feet ache apparently. Pippa took the opportunity to avoid any potential flash points with either me or other female members of the team by accompanying Jenny back to the hotel.
The rest of us then whent onto an 80's dance club, where we boogied the night away.
